WikiLeaks app removed from Apple's App Store for violating developer guidelines

An unofficial Wikileaks iPhone app that showed content from the Wikileaks site and Wikileaks Twitter account was pulled from the App Store on Tuesday, according to Apple. Apple told The New York Times that the $1.99 app had been removed because it violated developer guidelines stating that apps "must comply with all locals laws and may not put an individual or group in harm's way."

The app only stayed up for 3 days, and it reportedly only had 3 reviews at the time it was removed. However, the app's developer, Igor Barinov, told ReadWriteWeb he had sold enough copies to top the Lifestyle category in many countries, and that he plans to give half of his profits to WikiLeaks.
