Xmarks finds a buyer, prepares to launch new freemium version

Xmarks, the bookmark sync utility that was saved from the brink of destruction by a grassroots pledge drive just a short while ago, is now declaring itself alive and well. A buyer for the service has come forward, and the new owners will carry Xmarks forward under a freemium model, with both paid and free components.

There are no details yet about a relaunch date or about what features might be included in the paid version of Xmarks, but the Xmarks blog is asking folks who pledged that they'd pay for Xmarks if it stayed alive to "hold that thought" and make sure to sign up for premium accounts.
