After weeks of waiting, the iPhone 4 is now going international and set to launch today in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
In Hong Kong, the official launch already kicked off at 12am midnight. Fans lined up outside retail stores of the official iPhone 4 carriers – CSL, 3HK and Smartone-Vodafone. That’s really insane!
Unlike that in US, where AT&T is the exclusive carrier, the iPhone 4 sold in Hong Kong is a factory unlocked version. That means, you are free to use it with any carriers.
In Hong Kong, the iPhone 4 is available through both the official carriers and Apple Online. Customers can purchase iPhone 4 at a special price with one of the official carriers but have to sign up a 2-year service contract. While for those who opt for a contract-free iPhone, they can purchase it directly from Apple Online but at a higher price.
Regarding the pricing, the 16 GB model of iPhone 4 is available for HKD4,988 (i.e. USD642) and 32GB for HKD5,888 (i.e. USD758).
The 8GB version of iPhone 3GS is also available via Apple Store for HKD4088 only (i.e. USD526). Needless to say, the iPhone 3GS is also a factory unlocked one.
Note: When you click “Order iPhone” at the Apple (HK) store, it is still showing “Coming Soon”. However, it’s expected to the iPhone 4 will be available for order very soon. Stay tuned. It’s no sale now!
