Apple on Tuesday launched the much-awaited “Apple Store” application. This retail store app lets users find local stores, purchase products, read customer reviews and stay up to date with in-store events. The app comes at the best possible price – free and is available for download via iTunes.
Steve Jobs has always emphasized that he wants to simplify the purchase process and empower his customers. The new “Apple Store” app makes customers lives simpler by letting them shop directly with the retailer. The app even lets customers create appointments for in-store services such as Personal Shopping, Genius Bar or One-on-One training.
IMO, with iPhone 4 around the corner, the launch of “Apple Store” app is perfectly timed. The app is rated 4+ on iTunes and offers the following handy features.
- See new and featured products from Apple.
- Shop the full selection of products available from the Apple Online Store.
- Find the latest accessories and software.
- Read customer reviews and get answers to product questions.
- Buy or reserve a new iPhone with just a few taps.
- Locate any Apple Retail Store in the world, instantly.
- Make Personal Shopping, Genius Bar, and One to One appointments.
- Sign up for workshops and events at your favorite Apple Retail Store.
The app allows you to preorder (not any more as AT&T has temporarily suspended pre-ordering) the new iPhone from your current iPhone without entering AT&T customer information. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch or iPad running iOS 3.0 or later.
I’ve always admired Apple for innovation – be it products or new ways to improve the overall customer experience. Jobs & co. has always done a fantastic job and they continue to amaze me with their new offerings. Till now, the only way to make an in-store appointment was using the browser. Now, users can do it in hassle-free manner through this new app.
So, what next? I dearly wish that Apple can integrate the app with leading social networks like Facebook and Twitter in order to add a social media buzz factor. It also makes sense to add built-in support for some popular recommendation services. Also, the app in its current form leaves a lot to be desired when running on the iPad. While it’s a decent start, there’s definitely some room for improvement in the “Apple Store” app.
Have you tried the “Apple Store” app yet?
