One thing that may have dissuaded you from using Box.net in the past is its lack of a Dropbox-like desktop sync program. That's finally changed, with Box introducing a Windows app that creates a
Dropbox still has the edge, of course, with its app also available for Mac and Linux users. Box.net assures us that a Mac version is on the way in a few months, but I couldn't find word of any Linux plans. Box.net does have loads of cool plug-in OpenBox services though, which are well worth investigating if you're considering a cloud sync/storage account.
CNet's Josh Lowensohn laments Box's 2GB file cap, but I don't see the problem. Cloud storage and sync apps like Box.net aren't really intended for warehousing files of that size anyway. They're more geared for working files, documents, application preferences, etc. 2GB plus? That's video and ISO file territory, and something I'm sure Box.net figures they're better off without.
... Not to mention the fact that poor saps like me are still saddled with horrendous 30K/s upload speeds. Until ISPs make with faster uploads, I've got no interest in syncing enormous files to the cloud.
